This week saw another sold-out PASA Connect Big Breakfast event take place, this time in PASA’s home state of Queensland at The Grand Chancellor hotel in Brisbane’s CBD.
Sponsored by Axis Group International (gold) and Procurement Australia (silver), it was the ninth regional Big Breakfast event since the hugely successful series began in early 2022.
The 22nd August saw us kick off bright and early at 7am for a “one-day” expanded program squeezed into a four-hour window, bringing more procurement networking and knowledge over a tasty breakfast.
We welcomed over 110 attendees who benefited from networking with colleagues and peers from around the region to connect, share and learn together. They were back in the office by 11:30am replete with best practice examples of how others face the same challenges too.
The jam-packed program was full of valuable insights and thought-leader knowledge, hosting several high-profile speakers, including:
- Teena Finch, Manager for Procurement Excellence at Santos, on rebalancing cost vs risk on inbound supply chains, including what Santos’ risk management strategy is
- Rachel Wu, Managing Director of Global Procurement and Supply at Axis Group International, on global sourcing opportunities and challenges for Australia in a shifting trade landscape
- Peter Lacey, Executive Director of Policy at Queensland Government Procurement, on the articulation of value in public sector procurement
- Damien Sheehy, CPO at Flight Centre, on delivering value in multiple ways to support a remodelled service provider, including how he’s tackling the problem of managing a very long tail whilst focussing on key strategic procurement questions in order to deliver new value across a much broader spectrum
Meanwhile, PASA’s CEO Jonathan Dutton talked briefly about talent development and crafting a procurement L&D plan for the post-Covid era, with colleague Dee Bergsma, PASA Connect Recruitment Manager.
One delegate remarked at the end, “What’s different about the PASA events is the joined-up theming and how the sheer impact from the synergy of all the core presentations makes it easy to apply the lessons to our own organisation’s specific needs from the moment we get back in the office”.
Did you miss out? We still have two PASA Big Breakfast events scheduled for 2023, but you’ll need to be quick as last chance tickets are selling fast.
We’ll be in Auckland on 31st August at The Rydges hotel and Sydney on 13th September at the Hilton Hotel.
Both events kick off at 7am and will follow the theme of how procurement can best navigate today’s key challenges in the profession, including:
- Mitigating the effects of high inflation
- Rebalancing sourcing decisions based on risk management as well as cost advantage
- Reviewing the future of global sourcing from Australia and New Zealand in the face of deglobalisation worldwide
- Delivering on stakeholder demands for raised ESG standards from the supply side
- Capturing the true benefits now available from eProcurement technology and digitalisation work
- Understanding local needs and differences
Don’t miss out on the chance to tap into new procurement thinking from specially recruited procurement thought-leaders and experts, hear real-world case studies from leading procurement practitioners and organisations often facing the same challenges as you, and network with colleagues and peers from around your region.
