Majority of CPOs making investment in AI and GenAI a priority for 2025

Ai Procurement

According to new research from Gartner, procurement’s operating context is changing rapidly, with 68 percent of CPOs prioritising investment in AI and GenAI which reflects significant and immediate interest in leveraging technological efficiencies.

Despite this, the ‘Gartner Predicts 2025 Report: Procurement Addresses Data Challenges and Embraces Rapid Change’ reveals 49 percent of procurement leaders cite data accuracy and reliability as major challenges.

Other key findings include:

  • The convergence of emerging AI reasoning and multimodal capabilities is poised to revolutionise GenAI
  • Procurement’s labour shortage, coupled with evolving work preferences and high turnover rates, requires CPOs to adopt innovative recruitment strategies
  • Fragmented ownership of risk management within procurement and third-party functions is insufficient to address the growing complexity of global supply chain risks

Gartner also presents its strategic planning assumptions and makes a number of recommendations within the report, as well as taking a look back at key predictions from previous years.
