Victorian State Government updates Supplier Code of Conduct

Code Of Conduct

The Victorian State Government has announced that its Supplier Code of Conduct (Code) will be changing from 1 April 2025, with suppliers required to meet mandatory minimum standards when establishing and maintaining a business relationship with the State.

The revised Code will replace the existing Code – which was first introduced on 1 July 2017 – and will apply to all contracts, agreements and purchase orders for the supply of goods, services, construction works and construction services.

The revised Code means suppliers must ‘comply’ rather than ‘aspire’ to commit, with the updates aiming to make obligations clearer in a number of key areas including health, safety and security.

Suppliers will be required to implement robust systems to protect confidential information and must avoid financial, business or other relationships which may compromise or have the appearance of compromising the performance of their duties.

Suppliers are also asked to report breaches of the Code, with updates provided when it comes to consequences for non-compliance.

“The revised Code is streamlined and simplified, helping to make it easier for buyers and suppliers to understand and apply it,” said the State Government.
