Procurement Sporting Body hosts first forum in Melbourne

Forum

The Procurement Sporting Body recently hosted its first forum in Melbourne, accommodating procurement leaders from major Australian sporting organisations, including Shiraz Ruwain (Cricket Australia), Michael O’Brien (Victoria Racing Club), Daniel Oberin (Melbourne and Olympic Parks) and Christina Guerra (Tennis Australia).

The afternoon began with beer, wine and cheese at Tennis Australia’s HQ, plus a meet and greet.

Meanwhile, a special Rod Laver Arena roof top tour provided behind the scenes access to the AO Player Pod and wonderful views over the Melbourne and Olympic Park precinct, courtesy of Daniel Oberin who arranged the tour.

The Body shared collective procurement experiences across a number of common categories such as security, catering and infrastructure, with the conversation quickly moving to collective or aggregated buying and its opportunities and challenges alike.

Attendees gained a great deal of value from the forum and vowed to keep the momentum going into 2024.

Commenting on the forum, Christina Guerra, Director of Procurement at Tennis Australia said: “The forum’s goal is to be a community of procurement professionals in the sporting industries, providing a place to come together, share information and stories about our procurement activities.

She added: “It’s also a place to share key past/current activities where we might be facing some challenges and discuss shared learnings and common objectives”.
