Australia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United States and United Kingdom to form a new trilateral collaboration, with the goal of strengthening strategic cooperation and addressing growing threats to critical supply chains.
The Australia-United Kingdom-United States Supply Chain Resilience Cooperation Group will be established under the MoU – which was signed on 9 September – and will carry out a myriad of functions, such as joining forces on data sharing and building resilience in priority supply chains.
The three countries will work together to identify and address risks, threats and disruption, while developing an early warning pilot program that focuses on the telecommunications supply chain.
The pilot will help to identify and track disruption risks to the telecommunications supply chain, with the development of procedures for sharing information and responding swiftly and cooperatively.
“This agreement signifies a deepening of the important and historic relationship between the UK, US and Australia, and reinforces our mutual commitment to tackling supply chain challenges,” said the UK’s Department for Business and Trade.
