Procurement has seen a drive to engage contractors during the last quarter, with many starting new projects and contracting engagements at the beginning of January, while there has also been a steady influx of strong international talent, according to Cozens Mabel.
The specialist Australian recruitment firm says many of the contractors it has placed have been at the mid-level to senior end of the market.
Company director, Ilsa Cozens, says these contractors tap into years of industry insights and knowledge, and are often engaged to drive large strategic uplift initiatives and help grow procurement and supply chain functions across a range of organisations and sectors – often on contracts of 12 months or longer.
“Many organisations have been moving existing resources away from BAU activities to drive a range of technology projects, often relying on contractors to backfill these roles,” says Ilsa.
January is a common time for overseas talent arriving in Australia, resulting in an influx of international candidates looking for roles within the Australian procurement landscape.
“As we have said for a while, those organisations that are willing to offer sponsorship are engaging really strong international talent, initially on a contract basis before moving to sponsorship for the right candidates,” Ilsa adds.
