Why cyber-hygiene is nearly as important as hand-washing during the COVID-19 crisis
A report published on the World Economic Forum’s COVID action platform has stressed the importance of increased cybersecurity during the COVID-19 crisis. Businesses are more vulnerable than ever for three reasons:
1. A heightened dependency on digital infrastructure raises the cost of failure.
2. Cybercriminals exploit fear and uncertainty.
3. More time online could lead to riskier behaviour.
The authors recommend that organisations step up their cyber hygiene standards, be extra viligant on verification, and to follow official updates from trusted sources.
