Time is short and procurement people are busy, so why spend time entering PASA’s annual Procurement in Practice Excellence Awards aka The Nigels?
Nominations are now open, so here are the top four reasons to submit your entry today:
1. The business reason
Winning an award reflects well on your procurement team and supports your SRM work with suppliers, as well as your CRM work with stakeholders.
It also improves your procurement business case for more resources, more latitude and more trust inside your organisation – and outside your organisation too, as our industry recognises its procurement leaders.
Not only that, it’s great PR that reflects well on your brand and your organisation as a whole.
2. The development reason
Submitting a nomination is a great development opportunity for your team, allowing you to reflect on the learnings you have achieved while you compile your entry. It also builds confidence and morale for the team, helping you to identify your strengths and weaknesses too.
Plus, if you are shortlisted, YOU get the chance to present your 10-minute entry live to the plenary audience of the annual PASA Premier Confex.
Winners are often invited to expand and repeat their case study presentations at future PASA events – an opportunity for others in the team, perhaps? – ensuring our profession benefits from your best practice.
3. The credibility reason
The Nigels is a peer-reviewed awards scheme, meaning the three winning teams are voted for by Confex audience members on an in-conference app. Over 500 people attended PASA’s flagship event in 2023, so you are being recognised and celebrated by your peers!
The transparency of The Nigels process boosts the prestige of winning. With only three awards presented each year, the focus on the winners is both narrowed and admirable. It looks great as a credential on any resume.
A Nigels Award presents your team and your organisation as industry leaders on the supply-side.
For every entry, a donation is made to The Heart Foundation, which is then matched by PASA in memory of PASA’s founder Nigel Wardropper who passed away suddenly in 2020.
Previous years have seen a four-figure total donation, so your entry will go directly towards helping a good cause.
4. The efficiency reason
It’s quick and easy to enter online, with no long-winded submission formats here.
You can ‘reuse and recycle’ your submission for other appropriate award schemes or present it internally as the opportunity arises, showcasing a live business case for working with your best practice and award-winning procurement team.
Award wins are great team builders for everyone who engages with them, while attracting the best future candidates who want to work with the best procurement teams – and in a time of skill shortages, who can afford not to hire the best?
These are my top four reasons to galvanise the team and enter The Nigels this year. See you at the Flemington Racecourse Conference Centre in October – on the stage, maybe?
