Strategic Procurement Leadership

PASA’s chief content creator Jonathan Dutton FCIPS will host the Strategic Procurement Leadership Programme 2024, with public online courses in August and December.

Recently restructured and fully revised for the post-COVID era, the flexible program addresses the most important questions and key challenges that modern procurement teams face, whether large, small, direct or indirect.

What’s it all about?

The core structure of the program comprises a number of chapters, including procurement leadership post-COVID, strategic procurement & risk management, the business case for SRM, buying during inflationary times, delivering value beyond savings and ESG.

It also incorporates goal alignment, tracking up your in-bound supply chain, supply chain management and the BIG question, managing downstream drama, building procurement capability, agile procurement, category management and strategic sourcing in practice.

Key themes include:

• The major questions facing the procurement profession today

• Genuinely strategic solutions to these issues and how others do it

• How procurement responded to the COVID-19 crisis and the lessons it offers

• Why strategic sourcing from Australia & New Zealand is more difficult

• The sales professional’s view of buyers and why it matters

• How procurement can align with your marketing strategy; a unique element

• The most acute management challenges facing procurement this year

When is it?

The next public online course will take place on 7-9 August, with another session on 6-8 December. Both consist of three mornings between 9am and 1pm.

Who’s it for?

The program, which will include real-life examples from numerous case studies, is designed for experienced procurement managers working to take their next step into a leadership role, as well as experienced category managers, analysts and practising procurement professionals.

It offers intermediate-level training and coaching to help procurement practitioners move from transactional procurement to a more proactive approach and strategic mindset.

By the end of the program, attendees will:

  1. Understand the context and complexity within which modern strategic procurement has to deliver and meet stakeholder needs, especially post-pandemic
  2. Quickly determine the difference between procurement leadership and management, and WHY it matters
  3. Thoroughly grasp the essentials and the mindset of a strategic approach to procurement
  4. Confidently manage suppliers and colleagues through a more strategic procurement process, during a polycrisis
  5. Utilise a core range of strategic procurement tools, techniques and approaches to suit the situation
  6. Develop the true role of procurement for the organisation and take a more strategic and balanced approach that is right for the organisation’s needs

Here’s what previous attendees had to say:

“Engaging, enjoyable and informative with real-life, current examples. In my 30+ years as a procurement professional I’ve attended many courses and workshops. This one ranks up there with the best. JD’s style challenged as well as informed and created genuine participation and debate from the course members.”

Phil Partridge, Procurement Manager Electrix

“The course was absolutely fantastic and Jonathan was a breath of fresh air, especially his knowledge & personal experiences he shared with us. I took away so much from the course I would recommend it to anyone in my field.”

Arvind Mistry, Purchasing Coordinator Genea
