In this new episode of the Essential ESG podcast, Corrs’ Phoebe Wynn-Pope and Kate Gill-Herdman unpack the European Union’s Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), what it means for Australia and what organisations can do now to prepare.
“It’s one of the most significant corporate responsibility reforms in recent years. Its impact is going to be felt well beyond the EU, including here in Australia, which is why we’re talking about it,” said Phoebe, Head of Responsible Business and ESG.
“What’s important about this is even the out-of-scope entities will be impacted in Australia. So, the directive will apply directly to in-scope entities and it will also apply to entities that are majority owned by an in-scope entity,” added Kate, Special Counsel.
Learn about the three ways in which an Australian business can be impacted, the objectives of the directive, the mandatory requirements, what happens if organisations don’t put diligence frameworks in place and the three things that Australian businesses can do to get ready.
The Essential ESG podcast series, presented by Corrs, breaks down topical issues affecting the rapidly evolving environmental, social and governance landscape in Australia and beyond.
