PASA has announced its highly anticipated program for the upcoming 3rd Sustainable Procurement & ESG Today event, which will take place online on 15-16th November.
For the third year running, this popular virtual event will offer pragmatic tips on how to understand sustainable procurement and the supply side environmental, social and governance (ESG) agenda, focusing on traction and impact over just policy.
The theme of the event is geared around the top 9 ESG priorities for procurement in 2023 and 2024, as defined by the PASA Connect CPO Roundtable earlier in the year.
This includes the mandatory Modern Slavery Act and Payment Times Reporting, key focus areas like net zero, indigenous procurement and gender diversity, as well as other focus areas including supplier diversity, social procurement, supply chain tracking, buy local policies and related topics like waste management.
Day one sees several high-profile speakers discussing themes that are relevant to the top 9 ESG priorities, including:
- Anu Srinivasan, Managing Director – Procurement, PWC on the practical inclusion of ESG demands in your procurement strategy
- Natalie Brand, Associate Director – Payment Times Reporting Advisory, KPMG (Melbourne) on the Payment Times Reporting Act
- Tanya Harris, Head of Sustainable and Ethical Procurement & Principal Consultant, Edge Impact Advisory on procurement and net zero – what you need to know and can start to do right now

- Brendan O’Keefe, Senior Executive Advisor & Circular Sourcing Expert for Business Drivers on sustainable procurement – the 4 Rs of circularity: reuse, repair, refurbish, recycle
Meanwhile, day two sees another jam-packed morning of discussion, insight and expert advice on topics that are commanding attention within procurement right now, including:
- Luke Geary, Mills Oakley Partner for NFPs, Human Rights & Social Impact and Georgia Davis, Mills Oakley Senior Associate for NFPs, Human Rights & Social Impact on the Modern Slavery Act after three years – including the new NSW Act and likely amendments to the legislation this year
- Cain Slater, Chief Operating Officer at The KARI Foundation on indigenous procurement – beyond policy and into practice
- David Burrell, Head of Solutions at The Promp Group on the ESG agenda in the property, waste and facilities management category

- Dr Francesca MacLean from Yarra Trams on lifting the standards: why we need gender equality in our supplier base
- Emily Synnott, Associate Director, Social & Sustainable Procurement at ArcBlue on the business case for supplier diversity
There will also be plenty of time for online networking, while PASA CEO Jonathan Dutton will briefly present The Golden Slide: a one-page business case on ESG that explains it all for your CFO, including the consequences of failure in this arena, winning the argument for additional resources and how you can optimise your investment in the procurement governance team.
