Competition is hotting up for a high-profile procurement manager role with a national organisation.
According to LinkedIn, more than 100 applicants have applied for Australia Post’s Procurement Manager role to lead and manage their Group Procurement team.
The Linkedin advertisement says the company is undergoing significant transformation in response to a rapidly changing commercial landscape. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing cost-effective sourcing and procurement strategies, the advertisement says.
The role will be required to support the organisation’s Post 26 strategy, released in late 2022. This strategy provides a roadmap to keep the organisation competitive for the next 200 years.
Tough times for Australia Post
In March 2023, the Federal Government announced a review, entitled, Postal Services Modernisation, into Australia Post to ensure it remains financially viable. Government News revealed Australia Post suffered a record first-half letters loss before tax of $189.7 million. The average household now receives about one-third the number of letters a week it did in 2007,
What is expected in the role
An “experienced procurement professional with exposure to large corporate best sourcing practices and processes” is desired according to the job advertisement.
Other attributes of the ideal candidate include “sound commercial knowledge and understanding, including an understanding of national/global providers, contract law, probity practices, and procedures.”
