Get ready for Confex 2023: the region’s most influential procurement conference and coveted NIGELS Awards

Confex

Next month sees the 11th Annual PASA Premier Confex take place at the Flemington Racecourse Conference Centre in Melbourne from 18th-19th October – and tickets are selling fast!

Widely accepted as the region’s most influential procurement conference with the peer-decided NIGELS awards celebrating the best in the profession, this vibrant event – which welcomed over 400 guests in 2022 – challenges attendees to adopt new ways of thinking as they explore the latest procurement practices.

The jam-packed two day program features a number of high-profile keynote speakers covering a range of topics that are relevant to issues affecting procurement today, including:

  • Demystifying procurement & sustainability from Kate Hart, Partner at Kearney (read our exclusive pre-Confex interview here)
  • Procurement in the AI era: unleashing innovation & shaping strategies from Tom Zielinski, Senior Director – Consulting & Services Leader ANZ at GEP
  • Value beyond cost: emerging stronger by embracing challenging times from Chris Sullivan, Global Chief Supply Officer at Ramsay Health Care
  • The ongoing drama of inbound global supply chain and logistics post-pandemic – what to expect in 2024 from Travis Brooks-Garrett, VP – Commercial (Oceana) at DP World

There will also be a fireside Q&A chat with Qantas CPO Rick Fraccaro, a panel interview with the front line procurement GMs at Woolworths, a keynote from the AusNET CPO and networking over cocktails at the end of day one.

Across both days, we will also host three 30-minute seminars in each of four streams. Streams A and C focus on procurement performance during difficult times, while streams B and D focus on ESG factors influencing procurement decisions.

Here’s a taster of incisive seminar topics:

  • Supplier KPIs that deliver results you want
  • The impact of cognitive biases on procurement: how to minimise errors and achieve better procurement outcomes
  • ESG enablement through technology
  • Indigenous procurement – beyond policy and into practice
  • A review of the Modern Slavery Act after 3 years – including the new NSW Act and likely amendments to the legislation this year
  • All about procurement and net zero – what you need to know and can start to do right now…including Scope 3

…plus much more!

Meanwhile, the PASA Annual Procurement in Practice Awards – rebranded the ‘NIGELS’ in 2021 in memory of the founder of PASA, Nigel Wardropper – will see the top three shortlisted finalists in each category get to present their case study entry live in person.

Recognising the extraordinary achievements of successful procurement professionals throughout Australasia, The NIGELS includes two award categories which rotate to reflect current challenges faced by the industry.

This year’s two new award categories are sponsored by GEP, including:

The Procurement Stakeholder Alignment Award, acknowledging the alignment of value delivery with organisational priorities.

The Procurement Value Generation Tracking Award, which focuses on measuring and reporting value to stakeholders.

The most prestigious award is the Most Improved Procurement Team Award and is not sponsored, but presented solely in PASA’s name.

It recognises teams that have shown significant growth and development in their capabilities, whether through people, process, technology, strategic initiatives or exceptional leadership.

The judging panel will shortlist three entries from each of the three award categories, who will present their ten-minute case study live, before audience members then vote the winners in each category using the conference app – effectively peer-reviewing the shortlisted entries.

The winners are presented with special engraved trophies on day two of the conference.

It’s set to be an unmissable event, but don’t just take our word for it. Here’s what previous PASA event attendees have to say…

The PASA conference was the best conference I had attended in many years – practical advice and applications that my team and I can put to use straight away, a great investment of our time. – Procurement Professional

“It was great to hear a wide range of presentations from a diverse mix of speakers, especially in person.” – Procurement Professional
