2018 Awards Winners

Congratulations to the winners of the 2018 PASA Procurement Awards:

Best example of improved customer experience (Buyer award) nomination:

The Star Entertainment Group

PASA Managing Director Nigel Wardropper presenting the 2018 PASA Procurement Buyer award to Yuin Lai, Continuous Improvement Manager , The Star Entertainment Group.

It’s an exciting time for The Star Entertainment Group (“The Star”). The Star’s vision, to become Australia’s leading integrated resort company, is supported by a multi-million dollar commitment to delivering world-class tourism and entertainment destination to the cities in which it operates. These projects will expand The Star’s assets to 12 hotels, approximately 130 restaurants and bars, while doubling our workforce. As a result, Procurement at The Star developed How To Buy – a scalable and integrated solution to support the organisation’s exponential growth. A SharePoint-based intranet portal, How To Buy steps our internal customers through The Star’s procurement process, so that they can be confident that they are buying the right thing, in the right way, at the right price.

Entrepreneurial Supplier of The Year

Winya Indigenous Furniture

PASA Managing Director Nigel Wardropper presenting the Supplier 2018 award to Greg Welsh, Director, Winya Indigenous Furniture.

Greg Welsh and Winya Furniture are the first ever Australians and Australian business and one of only ten companies globally to be Awarded by the United Nations (on Sept 24 2018) for Leadership in Sustainable Development and particularly Indigenous Empowerment. Winya took a deliberate approach to empowering the Indigenous community as part of the business. Winya took a very big step in trying to engage with remote communities where there is little or no work (and people want to stay on the land so effort was focused into designing a supply chain to help them achieve this) and put work into engaging with Prisons, as Aboriginal people represent .3% of the Australian population but 27% of those in goals (and 47% of youth in custody).

Congratulations to all of the other finalists who made some very impressive pitches to the audience at the 6th Annual PASA Premier ConfeX Melbourne.
