Scheduled meetings hit the mark at ProcureTECH

3.3.15 ProcureTECH image 1The recent PASA ProcureTECH conference proved a big hit for all who attended. The introduction of pre-scheduled meetings between buyers and technology solution providers proved to be incredibly successful.

Over two days at Melbourne Olympic Park, procurement and IT specialists had the opportunity to view a large number of diverse technology offerings, and to attend a mix of case study and expert presentations on a variety of technology related subjects.

Post-conference feedback is always invaluable to us so we can assess where buyers found the most value and how the format of the event was received.

Having the opportunity to see a number of vendors in one place at one time was deemed invaluable to buyer delegates. Cosma Nicolau, Global Procurement Manager – Minerals/Agri for Bureau Veritas summed up the highlight of the event as: “Having one on one time with suppliers when I needed to, on categories of spend that are relevant to me ‘NOW’.”

Darrell Martin, Director, Finance Operational Services at Charles Sturt University said: “I loved the format for the ProcureTech Conference, which provided a great opportunity to dialogue with vendors and review their software in a less pressured environment. Most other conferences don’t provide sufficient time to interact with vendors effectively.”

This view was shared by Malcolm Shimmins, Operations Manager at Gecko MMS, who said: “ProcureTech was a terrific forum to meet and engage with multiple service providers in the one venue, and certainly provided me with ample information and thoughts on what our next technology steps would be.”

The conference programme itself featured a wide variety of sessions including case studies on how organisations have utilised technology solutions to drive increased performance either across the board, or as in a couple of cases, to radically improve outcomes in specific categories.

Cliff Ratcliff, Large Customer e-Commerce Manager APAC for RS Components, who attended every session commented: “From my perspective, the ability to gain a rapid overview of technology, solutions and market maturity covering a number of procurement related areas in a condensed time frame was most valuable for me.”

Taking this year’s feedback into account, we have already decided to focus next year’s programme on providing practical workshops on issues related to sourcing, implementing and driving adoption of appropriate technology solutions, as a complement to the opportunity to meet technology solutions providers.

ProcureTECH 2016 will be on 18th and 19th February at the Australian Technology Park in Sydney. If you are a provider of technology solutions, get in early and secure your place now. Call Deanne on 07 5644 0511 to discuss opportunities.
