Welcome to the October 2018 edition of Business Travel Quarterly. Since the last issue, we’ve had the GBTA Global Convention in San Diego, the world’s largest business travel event with over 7,000 attendees and nearly 500 exhibitors.
We get a report on the event from the man himself, the COO and Executive Director of the GBTA, Mike McCormick.
American Express GBT has undergone more changes than just its name and ownership structure in recent years. It has also made a number of acquisitions and technology moves. We have a Q&A with Regional Vice President & General Manager, Australia and South Asia, Jo Sully.
My contribution this issue is to give a quick rundown of the several types of audit available to travel managers, and their uses.
Then we do something a little different. Nigel Wardropper, who runs PASA and btTB, regularly remarks how little the basic issues and topics related to travel management have really changed over the past ten or twenty years. So we decided to put it to the test by going back to issues of Business Travel Monthly and having a look at the articles. Nigel is right. Most of the pieces regarding technology are outdated. But most of the others are not. So, we’ve reprinted one of the best from 2008.
